catching up

1. Saw Going the Distance and it reminded me how lucky I am to be living the same city as my love.
2. Baked Vegan + Gluten-free Chocolate Chip Cookies for my roommate's 25th bday. It was a success! I used a recipe from Babycakes, but added twice the amount of chocolate chips, and used agave nectar. The batter did not taste good and it was really runny, so I refrigerated it and it stiffened up the consistency. They turned out great though! I think I've been bitten by the baking bug again...
3. Rachel Zoe Project season finale tomorrow. I die.
4. I need a pop of color in my neutral ensembles. Neon Balenciaga, anyone? oh wait. I don't have fifteen benjamins to spare.
5. Can't get enough of Grizzly Bear's "Knife".

Two boxes of button mushrooms
I have a million things to do right now, but all I want to do is watch Dawson's Creek.
Dry eyes.
I wish I never discovered TV. Or I wish I was just more disciplined to read. I used to love it so much I would read under the covers with my flashlight. That's how I ruined my vision. It was worth it. But now reality tv is killing my brain cells.

Mazzy Star - Fade Into You (Black White Version)

I was at the gypsy den a few months ago when I heard this song. It was familiar but I couldn't make out who the artist was. It was one of those moments where I wish I had a tape recorder or something so I could record it right then and there and replay it a thousand times over. Thank you, Adam for mentioning them this morning... Replay.

I woke up in brooklyn

...not really, but I felt like I was really living in Brooklyn. I am very excited to visit in a week or two and check out SUNY Downstate. Hannah might even come with me! I can't wait to live in New York!

cherry on top

Wednesday night Bear and I went to Derek Brown's poetry reading/variety show at the Basement in Long Beach. Most of the artists were very talented, but the most memorable artist was Jay Buchanan. Even though he was sick, the rasp in his voice did him well! I couldn't find a video clip of his performance that night, but here is one on YouTube of "Post-Coital Kiss". Quite sexy.

perfect saturday

Today is lovely. After breakfast with Sabrina P. during which I had a "liver cleanse" juice (beets, apples, lemons, ginger, parsley and spinach), I went home and made a salad for Sabby Pants and myself. We packed a picnic basket with coconut juice and headed for Wakeham Park. The park was unexpectedly perfect minus the weird-looking flies that swarmed over to us. This spurred Sab to use the books we brought, sandwiching them to their deaths mid-air.

I am starting A Million Miles in a Thousand Years by Donald Miller. I have read most of his books and my favorites are Blue Like Jazz and Searching for God Knows What. I began reading, but fell asleep of course... It was warm and I was laying on a blanket! Oh well, I will tell you how the book goes after I take a nap.

I love the way the sun shines through the window in my room.
